These introduced species have had a serious effect on natural ecosystems causing the extinction or greatly reducing the numbers of manu Australian native organisms. The introduced species have been able to flourish because usually they do not have any natural enemies that prey on them. Tips for Research Try answering some specific questions. For example: • • • • What does the species look like? Where did it originally come from? How did it get to Australia? Does it have any predators in Australia? What are the species’ predators in its natural habitat? Where is it found in Australia, and in what type of habitat? What damage does it cause to Australian ecosystems? Are we doing anything to combat this species? • • • •
